For the first time since 2012, the Reassessment Campaign on Veterinary Resuscitation (RECOVER) Initiative has released significant revisions to its global veterinary cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines. Major advancements in veterinary medicine and extensive community feedback were paramount in the decision of the RECOVER Initiative to update its CPR guidelines. As a part of this strategy, the RECOVER Initiative recruited experts worldwide and across disciplines to review the current guidelines and incorporate updated research and best practices in order to provide veterinary professionals with the best possible care for their emergent patients.
Key updates include:
- Enhanced chest compression techniques
- Tailored compression depths and techniques
- Revised breathing support methods
- Updated medication dosages and procedures
A new streamlined CPR algorithm, updated drug dosing charts, and an ECG diagnosis algorithm will standardize CPR practices globally. RACE-approved training and certification will also be available. For more information, access the press release at https://go.navc.com/3XIKuxc.
