The team at TVN received valuable feedback and is kicking off the new year by continuing articles aimed at improving skill sets to elevate each individual veterinary nurse’s utilization along with implementing several new article formats. Regardless of the practice, an emergency can and will come through the door. We hear a great deal about the culture of veterinary hospitals; thus, the new column Enhancing Workplace Culture offers ideas and methods to enhance the culture of your hospital. Veterinary nurses recognize the importance of personal finances. The new Dollars and Sense column tackles some of the more pressing challenges to make ends meet. As we know, veterinary nurses are lifelong learners. The Winter 2024 issue offers new knowledge and skills allowing us to practice at the top of our credential and skillset. The Bridge Club Names Kara M. Burns Its 2024 ICON Award Winner
Today’s Veterinary Nurse Editor-in-Chief Kara M. Burns has been recognized by The Bridge Club as the first veterinary nurse/technician to win its Industry ICON Award. The honor recognizes a veterinary professional who “consistently demonstrates leadership, innovation, and a commitment to elevating and advancing veterinary care,” according to the organization’s website.
“Honored, shocked, humbled,” Burns said of receiving the award. “There are so many vet techs that have done so much for the profession for so long. For me to have been nominated would have been a great honor; to be named the winner is just incredibly humbling.”
This year, Burns was unanimously selected from a pool of nearly 50 candidates. The Industry ICON Award is bestowed annually by The Bridge Club, an organization dedicated to facilitating meaningful conversations in veterinary medicine to help elevate the field.
