Barentz to serve as US distributor of Probicon Pro for dairy cattle
Minnesota-based Barentz, a specialty ingredients solution provider, expanded its portfolio of animal feed products by signing a distribution partnership with NexGen Innovations LLC., under which Barentz will serve as the exclusive distributor of Probicon Pro for dairy cattle in the United States. Probicon Pro is designed to help dairy farmers lower operationwide digestive risk in growing and lactating dairy cattle.
Patterson Equine to distribute Curative Sound’s CS-Pro VET focused ESWT
Curative Sound, a medical technology company specializing in focused extracorporeal shock wave therapy (f-ESWT), today announced a distribution agreement with Patterson Vet Supply, Inc.’s Equine Division. The partnership expands access to Curative Sound’s CS-Pro VET device through Patterson’s nationwide equine sales and support network.
Zoetis to acquire animal genomics firm Neogen
Zoetis entered into an agreement to acquire Neogen Corp.’s animal genomics business for $160 million. “The acquisition aligns directly with Zoetis’ strategy to drive future livestock innovation through genomics and advance its Precision Animal Health portfolio,” the company said in a press release. Zoetis expects to complete the acquisition in the second half of calendar year 2026.
Solvet will provide calming pheromone at no cost to cattle producers facing wildfires
Solvet, a subsidiary of Alberta Veterinary Laboratories Ltd., announced it will provide its CattleZen bovine-appeasing gel at no cost to producers affected by wildfires, such as those in Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. Many producers are managing heightened cattle stress caused by relocation, environmental disruption and changes in routine, according to the company. Designated area veterinarians have CattleZen on hand to distribute as needed.
Rotavirus A may be potential respiratory pathogen of suckling piglets
A Swine Health Information Center-funded study sought to find a connection between strains of rotavirus species A (RVA) and C (RVC) and the porcine respiratory tract. Results emphasized the high on-farm prevalence of RVA and RVC and their strong association with diarrheal disease, but researchers did not see evidence of RVC involvement in the porcine respiratory disease complex. However, they noted RVA may be emerging as a potential respiratory pathogen of suckling piglets.
VPS introduces oral formulations to control infection and inflammation in swine
Veterinary Pharmaceutical Solutions introduced two prescription-only compounded oral formulations designed to streamline infection control and inflammation management in swine production. AmoxMelox pairs amoxicillin and meloxicam to target infections while simultaneously reducing inflammation in sows. For piglets, Enteriquell offers a combination of tylosin, gentamicin and dexamethasone, allowing for the co-administration of antibiotics and steroids in a single oral dose.
