USDA encourages hog producers to complete surveys in 2021

The National Agricultural Statistics Service and its USDA partner agencies are encouraging hog producers to complete their surveys in 2021. The data these surveys show will be valuable to individual operations and the industry as they chart a course ahead, especially after a challenging year, NASS said.

Producers may receive one or more of the following surveys in 2021:

  • Agricultural Resource Management Survey of costs and returns for hog producers (December 2020-April 2021).
  • National Animal Health Monitoring System Small Enterprise Study to monitor animal health and management practices of swine operations with fewer than 1,000 pigs (June 2021).
  • Feral Swine Survey to monitor damage to operations by feral swine (June 2021).
  • National Animal Health Monitoring System Large Enterprise Study to monitor the animal health and management practices of swine operations with more than 1,000 pigs (July 2021).
  • “Hogs and Pigs” inventory, a quarterly survey conducted by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (March, June, September, December).
