Fear Free launches equine certification

Fear Free has launched a new certification for equine veterinarians to help them ensure barn and hospital visits go smoothly.

The course, which Fear Free said was written and reviewed by experts in equine medicine and behavior, features eight modules explaining how to use Fear Free concepts to improve patient and handler safety. It includes video clips and slides demonstrating how to examine horses using gentle techniques, perform routine procedures in a non-threatening way and recognize signs of stress in equine patients, according to the announcement.

Additionally, the program offers tips for instructing owners on how to train their horses to cooperate in medical care, hoof care and other scenarios.

Participants in the course can receive eight RACE-approved continuing education hours, according to the announcement.
