Loyal and Senior Dog Society partner in senior dog care
Loyal and the Senior Dog Veterinary Society have agreed to provide continuing education, informational articles and social media in an effort to heighten awareness of intentional care for senior dogs. Senior Dog provides credentialing for veterinary professionals through two RACE-certified course levels, and Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing drugs to extend dogs’ healthspan.
Pet ownership of dogs and cats continues to grow: APPA report
Key findings from the American Pet Products Association 2025 State of the Industry Report include: Total U.S. pet industry expenditures reached $152 billion in 2024; pet ownership is increasing for both dogs and cat, with 51% of households owning a dog and 37% a cat; 70% of Gen Z pet owners have two or more pets; and millennial and Gen Z men make up a growing percentage of pet owners.
PFX announces leadership changes in wake of ASC acquisition
Specialty distributor PFX appointed Paul McCarron CFO; Elaine Rei-Lavelley will continue to lead accounting and finance; Tim Batterson, former CEO of Animal Supply Company (acquired by PFX in February), will help guide the integration process of PFX and ASC; Phylicia Proulx will support executive leadership in driving alignment and strategic initiatives; and SVP of Business Development Brian Wyrotek will lead initiatives such as “Cost to Serve” while overseeing Pet Superstores.
Privo Technologies announces launch of BeneVet Oncology
Biopharmaceutical company Privo Technologies has launched BeneVet Oncology, focused on the health of companion animals. Initial R&D efforts will focus on intratumoral therapies (targeted injections) of solid tumors, and topical treatment of shallow tumors for long-term relief of chronic pain.
ScribbleVet adopted at University of Florida CVM
ScribbleVet, an AI-powered scribe, and the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine announced that the university has adopted ScribbleVet’s artificial intelligence solution for use in its veterinary facilities and classroom settings for students. The University of Florida is the first educational institution to adopt ScribbleVet systemwide, for both veterinary facilities and student use, said ScribbleVet CEO Rohan Relan.
Thrive Pet Healthcare introduces app for clients
Thrive Pet Healthcare announced a new app designed to help pet owners locate a Thrive Pet veterinarian, book an appointment, review their pets’ health history, manage medications, quickly find emergency care and enroll in a preventative care program. The app is available for free download on the App Store and Google Play.
Bio-Response Solutions receives funding from 3 Boomerang Capital
3 Boomerang Capital, a healthcare-focused, lower-middle-market private equity firm, announced its investment in Bio-Response Solutions of Danville, Indiana, a maker of sterilization and tissue digestion equipment for veterinary clinics, funeral homes, crematoriums and bio-containment laboratories. Bio-Response employs alkaline hydrolysis technology, an alternative to flame cremation that uses water, alkali, heat and pressure to break down tissue.
