Race Around the World will raise awareness of suicide among veterinarians
Not One More Vet, an advocacy and online support group, is hosting a “Race Around the World” to help raise awareness of veterinary suicide and promote well-being in the veterinary community.
The goal of the race, which takes place remotely September 1 to November 10, is to accumulate 25,000 miles/40,000 kilometers from participants, representing the circumference of the earth. This is meant to illustrate the organization’s goal of reaching veterinary professionals around the world.
Donations to NOMV go toward the group’s key programs, including a peer support network that seeks to reduce isolation and provide personal support; educational leadership programs; and NOMV’s work with the University of Tennessee and Auburn University to develop an online crisis support system designed for veterinary professionals providing leadership.
Zoetis is partnering with the group as the premier sponsor of the event.
“Zoetis is committed to helping veterinarians care for their well-being so they can flourish both personally and professionally,” said Jeannie Jeffery, vice president of the U.S. equine business at Zoetis. “With that in mind, we are honored to sponsor Not One More Vet Race Around the World, which works to help veterinary professionals overcome challenges so they can remain dedicated to caring for animals as they take care of themselves.”
