Companies offer new online resources for clinics during pandemic

New online platforms could help veterinarians serve their patients more efficiently during the coronavirus pandemic.

Boehringer Ingelheim recently expanded its telemedicine options with the PetPro Tele+ platform. The platform allows mobile-to-mobile appointments between veterinarians and pet owners. It’s a standalone version of the company’s PetPro Connect platform, which integrates with practice management systems.

Both software programs are free and allow vets and pet owners to schedule appointments and communicate through video and chat. But PetPro Tele+ doesn’t require integration with a practice management system, according to the announcement from Boehringer Ingelheim.

PetPro Tele+ also allows pet owners to share photos, videos and other information with a veterinarian before or during a virtual appointment.

Meanwhile, web developer Skyhound Internet announced a new online check-in platform to help animal hospitals that are offering curbside service. The platform, called My Vet Services, aims to ease busy phone lines and unanswered calls.

My Vet Services allows clients arriving at the hospital to scan a QR code or check in online. Clinics have access to a dashboard that lists clients waiting and what they’re waiting for. The platform also has a messaging option so clients and vets can communicate. Clients can also track their place in line.
