ChatGPT: The Ultimate Secret Weapon for Salespeople
How ChatGPT can help you find new customers, sell more to existing customers and provide a better overall customer experience.
We’re all hearing a lot about Artificial Intelligence and, specifically, ChatGPT. Many are indeed convinced (i.e., Elon Musk) that unless controlled, AI will soon cause the extinction of the human race. Wow, how’s that for a motivational start to an article? Well, here’s my take. While those more intelligent than me are figuring it out, and before the death of our planet, I plan on using AI and ChatGPT to help me dominate the competition. And you can too. ChatGPT is the ultimate secret weapon for salespeople.
ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot that can be trained to understand and respond to human language. When it comes to sales, this powerful tool can be used in different ways to help you find new customers, sell more to existing customers and provide a better overall customer experience.
Let’s explore some ways that you, as a salesperson, can use ChatGPT to crush your sales goals.
No. 1: Research your prospects. ChatGPT can scour the web and provide you with valuable insights about your prospects and even the latest news and trends in their market. But here’s the catch – ChatGPT can give you a rough starting point, but you will need to check to verify that the information is accurate. Think of ChatGPT as Google on steroids, but better.
No. 2: Craft the perfect pitch. Use ChatGPT to help create the perfect pitch for your product or service. By asking ChatGPT to generate responses to prompts like “What are the biggest concerns among veterinarians right now?” (Staffing shortages, financial pressures, changes in regulatory compliance, etc.) or “What do veterinarians look for in a new product?” you can gain valuable insights that can help shape your sales strategy. Armed with this information, you can tailor your pitch to address your clients’ specific pain points and highlight the features that matter most to them.
No. 3: Personalize your outreach. Use ChatGPT to analyze your prospect’s website, social media profiles, and other online presence to craft personalized messaging that resonates with them.
No. 4: Create compelling content. Use ChatGPT to help generate content ideas that appeal to your target market. Ask questions like “What are the latest technology trends that can help veterinarians?” or “What topics are currently trending in animal health?” I just typed in “What are the top regulatory concerns/failures in veterinary offices,” and it came up with, “the top OSHA regulatory failure that happens at veterinary offices is related to the lack of proper handling and storage of hazardous chemicals and drugs.” If I wanted more detail, I would simply ask it more questions. Make it a habit to take what you learned and post it on your Linkedin profile or share it in other ways with your clients. The more they look at you as the “Walking ChatGPT,” the more “sticky” you become.
No. 5: Optimize your Linkedin profile. Here are three ways ChatGPT can help you to enhance your LinkedIn presence.
- Identify keywords: ChatGPT can analyze your profile and suggest relevant keywords to include in your headline, summary, and job descriptions to improve your visibility in search results.
- Create a compelling headline: Your headline is one of the first things people see when they visit your profile. ChatGPT can help you craft a headline that grabs people’s attention and showcases your unique value proposition.
- Write a compelling summary: Your summary is your chance to tell your story and explain why you’re passionate about your work. ChatGPT can help you write a summary that engages your audience and highlights your strengths. And based on many of the salesperson profiles I have seen in the vet industry, we need some “extreme makeovers!” Let ChatGPT clean you up.
No. 6: Predict customer behavior. Use ChatGPT to analyze customer data and identify patterns in behavior. This can help you anticipate their needs and provide them with personalized recommendations.
No. 7: Keep tabs on your competitors. ChatGPT can help salespeople stay ahead of the competition by analyzing online sources such as social media, news articles, and industry reports to provide insights into competitors’ activities and strategies. Using ChatGPT to monitor competitor activities, salespeople can identify emerging trends, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and adjust their strategy accordingly. This way, they can stay relevant and competitive in the ever-changing marketplace. With ChatGPT’s natural language processing capabilities, salespeople can receive real-time updates on their competition, giving them a strategic advantage.
Use these ChatGPT tips to crush your sales goals and provide a better customer experience. And if you are one of the salespeople who may be saying, “Oh no! I haven’t even figured out how to login to ‘the Twitter’ yet, fear not. Just go to openai.com/blog/chatgpt and ask it any question you want. Don’t be surprised if you become chatty with your new friend.
