Zoetis adds new products to prevent equine lameness

Zoetis is expanding its portfolio of horse care products, adding new devices that address common lameness-causing injuries.

The products include Pro-Stride, APS, Restigen PRP and CenTrate BMA. According to Zoetis, these devices can be used for stall-side processing of horses’ blood or bone marrow, allowing for use within 15-20 minutes of centrifugation and eliminating the need for incubation or offsite preparation.

Equine lameness as a result of musculoskeletal pain, particularly osteoarthritis, is one of the top reasons for veterinary evaluation, according to the announcement.

The addition of the new products “expands our ability to provide equine veterinarians additional options to advance joint and soft tissue care and is an exciting demonstration of our commitment to horse health and well-being,” said Jeannie Jeffery, vice president of Zoetis’ U.S. equine business. The products will be available to veterinarians exclusively through key distributor partners, according to the company.
