{"id":20949,"date":"2020-05-01T19:52:37","date_gmt":"2020-05-01T19:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/todaysveterinarypractice.com\/?p=20949"},"modified":"2022-02-18T20:51:09","modified_gmt":"2022-02-18T20:51:09","slug":"avma-convention-2020-canceled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/navc.sitepreview.app\/todaysveterinarypractice.com\/news\/avma-convention-2020-canceled\/","title":{"rendered":"AVMA Cancels 2020 Convention Due to COVID-19 Concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) announced that it has canceled the AVMA Convention 2020, Cannabis Symposium, and all related meetings.<\/p>\n<p>The convention was scheduled to take place July 31-August 4 at the San Diego Convention Center.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our top priority has always been the health, safety, and wellbeing of the veterinary community. With so much uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe this is the only way to protect all our annual convention attendees, vendors, speakers, and exhibitors. Though this decision wasn&#8217;t easy to make, we believe it&#8217;s the right one,&#8221; wrote the AVMA in an email to registered attendees signed by president John Howe, board of directors chair Rena Carlson-Lammers, and CEO Janet D. Donlin.<\/p>\n<p>The AVMA states that all attendee registration fees will be refunded and notes that it is working to offer virtual conference options, with details on both to come. It also notes that hotel reservations made in the AVMA block will be canceled on behalf of the registrant.<\/p>\n<p>The AVMA&#8217;s annual convention offers CE, labs, workshops, panels, lectures, and networking opportunities for veterinary professionals.
