Temperatures had fallen to about 10 degrees, when Fluffy\u2019s owners found her unresponsive and rushed her to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kalispellvet.com\/\">Animal Clinic of Kalispell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was completely packed in about 2 inches of hard-packed snow and ice,\u201d says Dr. Jevon Clark, DVM. \u201cHer skin and extremities were cold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although the normal body temperature of a cat is around 101 degrees, Dr. Clark says that Fluffy&#8217;s temperature was so low \u2014 \u201cless than 90 degrees\u201d \u2014 it didn&#8217;t even register on a thermometer when she was first brought in to the clinic.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15920\" style=\"width: 231px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15920\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15920\" src=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarypractice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/02\/Fluffy-Frozen-Cat-Recovers-221x300.jpg\" alt=\"Fluffy Frozen Cat Recovers\" width=\"221\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/navc.sitepreview.app\/todaysveterinarypractice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/02\/Fluffy-Frozen-Cat-Recovers-221x300.jpg 221w, https:\/\/navc.sitepreview.app\/todaysveterinarypractice.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/02\/Fluffy-Frozen-Cat-Recovers.jpg 439w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-15920\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fluffy had been living outside the house when new owners moved in and adopted her. \u201cShe is about three-ish,\u201d says Dr. Clark. Photo Credit: Jevon Clark\/The Animal Clinic of Kalispell<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cShe lives outside so she&#8217;s used to [very cold temperatures],\u201d says Dr. Clark. \u201cShe had been there at least several hours. We think something traumatic likely happened to her, which caused her to not be physically able to return to her normal hidey holes on their property and get out of the elements. Photo Credit: Jevon Clark\/The Animal Clinic of Kalispell<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Miraculously, within 30 to 45 minutes, Fluffy began to show signs of life. \u201cShe was beginning to at least act a little like a cat \u2014 vocalizing and some twitching,\u201d says Dr. Clark. \u201cShe was acting like her more normal crabby self.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But after 2 hours, the team still couldn&#8217;t get a temperature that registered. \u201cSo we sent her to the local emergency clinic for them to monitor her and keep her on fluids and all of the warming techniques we started,\u201d says Dr. Clark. \u201cShe was there about 3 hours before her temp returned to normal and she was actually discharged later that night to the owners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The next day, Fluffy returned to the clinic for a checkup, and then again on Feb. 5th for a follow-up visit when \u201cDr. Corum checked some bloodwork,\u201d says Dr. Clark. \u201cClinically, she&#8217;s completely normal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fluffy\u2019s owners are keeping her indoors for now, \u201cbut Fluffy has lived her entire life outdoors,\u201d says Dr. Clark. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t be surprised if she eventually wants to be back out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for the efforts his staff took to revive Fluffy, Dr. Clark says that \u201cwe did exactly what every other practice would do \u2014 we\u2019re
