In 2023, the NAVC introduced a new lineup of events to further serve the needs of the veterinary community, NAVC HiVE. There can be no doubt that the NAVC knows how to host not just the biggest but the best events to serve the community of veterinary healthcare professionals. The nonprofit’s annual lineup includes VMX, its flagship event and the largest veterinary continuing education conference in the world; the NAVC Institute, an immersive, in-depth learning experience; and the Veterinary Innovation Summit, an open forum for progressive thinking and collaboration in the veterinary space.
HiVE is the NAVC’s latest addition to the event lineup. Taking the shape of a series of focused, in-person conferences across the United States, HiVE is designed to be nimble, ensuring each event is tackling the most up-to-date issues, science, and technologies impacting and shaping the veterinary industry now and long into the future. NAVC HiVE events will consist of 4 initial core areas of focus:
- Diving deep into key clinical and patient treatment trends, such as CBD, pain and disease management, and end-of-life care
- Exploring and defining the development of industry-wide issues, such as the evolution of veterinary education, recruitment and retention, and mental health and wellness
- Delving into the business side of the veterinary industry to help veterinary professionals operate the practice more effectively, efficiently, and profitably, as well as specialized procurement initiatives and the future of animal environments
- Supporting the specific needs of different veterinary team members, which is more important now than ever. NAVC HiVE currently has a series of events for veterinary nurses/technicians, assistants, and practice managers that focuses on the professional and personal development needs of the entire team.
The first NAVC HiVE event, the Vet Nurse+Tech HiVE, took place in October 2023 in Austin, Texas. The event welcomed veterinary nurses/technicians and assistants from across the country, with more than 80% of the attendees reporting they had never had the opportunity to attend an in-person event. The program offered a variety of different topic areas from team building, career development, clinical skills, up-to-date medical practices, and personal wellness topics. These accessible events offer an engaged audience high-value learning tailored to their role and needs, meaningful conversations, and the chance to make deep connections in an intimate environment.
NAVC HiVE has expanded this program for 2024 with 2 more events dedicated to veterinary nurses/technicians and assistants and 2 events dedicated to the practice management team. Veterinarians and practice owners can encourage their team to attend these events in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from June 15 to 16 or in Anaheim, California, from November 23 to 24.
