Alkaline Hydrolysis System
Bio-Response Solutions, Inc, announced availability of the PET400 Alkaline Hydrolysis System tailored for pet crematory operators and veterinary service providers. Alkaline Hydrolysis is an alternative to fire cremation. It uses water, alkali, and heat to slowly dissolve the animal, leaving only the mineral ash of the bones and teeth. These remains are dried and processed into a fine powder for return to the family in an urn, just as is done from fire cremation. The process uses 1/20 of the energy of fire cremation, and has multiple compartments allowing processing of up to 14 pets simultaneously while keeping each pets bones completely separate from the others. The family receives only their pets remains. Founded in 2006, Bio-Response Solutions is a worldwide leader in alkaline hydrolysis technology for the funeral, pet, and research industries. Insect Growth Regulators Key to Preventing Flea Infestations
To control flea infestations, it is important for pet owners to use a product containing an insect growth regulator (IGR), such as (S)-methoprene, year round. IGRs break the life cycle and prevent immature flea stages from developing into adults. “On an untreated pet, an adult female flea can lay as many as 2,000 eggs during her lifetime,” said Dr. Michael Murray, technical marketing director of U.S. Parasiticides at Merial. One of the most effective ways to help control flea populations is to use a monthly topical product that includes an IGR, such as Frontline Plus, which has the additional benefit of killing other parasites, including ticks and chewing lice.
