As I look at the spring issue of <i>Today\u2019s Veterinary Nurse<\/i>, I see parallels between the season and this issue\u2019s learnings. There are many skills that we can refresh throughout our careers, whether we are new graduates or seasoned technicians like myself. This issue offers a fresh look at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarynurse.com\/wound-management\/wound-bandaging-techniques-for-small-animals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">wound bandaging techniques<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0and a reminder of the importance of recognizing and educating clients about the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarynurse.com\/parasitology\/limiting-the-zoonotic-risks-of-external-parasites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">zoonotic risks of external parasites<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">. We also know springtime to be kitten season! What better time to revisit the importance of <\/span><span class=\"s2\">properly <a href=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarynurse.com\/nutrition\/feeding-orphaned-kittens-from-birth-through-weaning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">feeding neonatal kittens<\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\">? Spring also reminds us how beautiful change can be. Whether learning about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarynurse.com\/oncology\/electrochemotherapy-for-companion-animals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">electrochemotherapy<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarynurse.com\/personal-professional-development\/a-veterinary-nursing-career-in-equine-field-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"s2\">large animal field service<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, we are opening ourselves to information that can change our everyday work experience. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Dr. Earl H. Her skills and experience gained over the last 20-plus years are now being passed on to veterinary nurses throughout Australia and internationally through lectures; workshops; and in-clinic, hands-on training. Anita is a member of the Academy of Veterinary Technician Anesthetists, International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, International Veterinary Critical Care Society, and Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia. Anita\u2019s special interests include critical care, challenging anesthetics, pain management, and surgical nursing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-30351\" src=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarynurse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/03\/Serling_RippieWinner24-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><b>Jennifer Serling<\/b>, CVT, RVT, BVSc, VTES<\/em><br \/>\nWhile Jennifer\u2019s specialty is in large animal nursing, she has experience in many areas of veterinary medicine. Jennifer was the program director for Pima Medical Institute\u2019s veterinary technician program prior to joining the Appalachian State University veterinary technology program as assistant director. She has written <span class=\"s1\">2\u00a0textbooks and contributed to others,<\/span> serves on the board of directors for 3 animal welfare and rescue groups, and speaks nationally on large animal medicine and veterinary technology education. She is president for the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators and a founding member of the Academy of Veterinary Technician Specialists in Education.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-30352\" src=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarynurse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/03\/Wortinger_RippieWinner24-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><b>Ann Wortinger<\/b>, BIS, LVT, VTS (ECC, SAIM, Nutrition), Elite FFCP<\/em><br \/>\nWith experience in general, emergency, and specialty practice, as well as education and management, Ann is active in her state, national, and specialty organizations and has served on the organizing committees for the Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians and Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians. She is currently a content developer and faculty member at Appalachian State University\u2019s veterinary technology program, as well as an active speaker and writer. Ann has mentored over 20\u00a0fellow veterinary technician specialists, published more than 50 articles, authored book chapters, and co-authored a
