Credelio Quattro Fights New World Screwworm<\/h3>\n

Elanco Animal Health\u2019s Credelio Quattro-CA1 is now conditionally approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of infestations caused by New World screwworm larvae in dogs. The company called the action \u201cthe first FDA conditional approval for a companion animal product to treat New World screwworm.\u201d The chewable tablets, already indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease and the treatment and control of roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm infections, contain the active ingredients lotilaner, moxidectin, praziquantel and pyrantel.<\/p>\n

AHS Needs Help Pinpointing Heartworm Cases<\/h3>\n

The American Heartworm Society is inviting veterinarians to participate in its 2025 Heartworm Incidence Survey. The organization\u2019s triennial maps inform veterinarians, animal shelters, animal rescue organizations and the media about the threat of heartworm disease across the United States. The deadline to submit survey data at bit.ly\/3LsyUCq<\/a> is Feb. 14, 2026.<\/p>\n

Adoro Pet Insurance Debuts in 27 States<\/h3>\n

A new pet health insurance brand, Adoro, has launched in the District of Columbia and these 27 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. Adoro is majority-owned by Griffin Highline Capital and Badger Equity US and is co-founded by industry veterans Gavin Friedman and Tricia Plouf.<\/p>\n

Jaguar Health Receives $240,000 FDA Grant<\/h3>\n

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration\u2019s Center for Veterinary Medicine has awarded a $240,000 grant to Jaguar Health to support an ongoing study of the treatment of chemotherapy-induced diarrhea in dogs. The company\u2019s Canalevia-CA1 is conditionally approved for treating CID in dogs. \u201cIn order to receive a full veterinary drug approval for the indication of CID, Jaguar must complete and file a successful effectiveness study,” said Dr. Michael Guy, Jaguar\u2019s vice president of preclinical and nonclinical studies.<\/p>\n

NAPHIA Appoints New President<\/h3>\n

Sammi-Jo Nevin of Independence Pet Holdings has been named president of the North American Pet Health Insurance Association, replacing Rick Faucher of Physicians Mutual Insurance Co. Pawlicy Advisor\u2019s Christopher Osnato is vice president.<\/p>\n

Newest Accredited Vet Tech Program Is in Alabama<\/h3>\n

The AVMA Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities has awarded initial accreditation to Southern Union State Community College in Valley, Alabama. According to the organization, 217 veterinary technology<\/a> programs are CVTEA-accredited in North America. The breakdown is 85% fully accredited, 10% initially accredited, 4% with probationary accreditation and 1% with voluntary terminal accreditation.<\/p>\n

Texas Tech Starts Food Animal Residency Program<\/h3>\n

Texas Tech University\u2019s School of Veterinary Medicine is launching its first food animal residency program to address the nationwide shortage of veterinarians serving rural and agricultural communities. The program received a $250,000 USDA Veterinary Service Grant.<\/p>\n

Felixvet\u2019s Meloxicam Oral Suspension Wins Approval<\/h3>\n

Felixvet Inc. has earned U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval of Meloxicam Oral Suspension. The prescription NSAID is formulated to manage pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis in dogs. \u201cWhile not a cure, the medication helps reduce inflammation and improve overall comfort and activity levels in affected dogs,\u201d the company stated. \u201cClinical results may be seen within days, and daily administration can significantly improve a pet\u2019s quality of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Red Bank Introduces PET\/CT Imaging<\/h3>\n

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Red Bank, New Jersey, has added PET\/CT to its advanced diagnostic services. \u201cThis cutting-edge technology, available at only a handful of veterinary hospitals across the United States, represents a major step forward in the early detection and management of cancer in companion animals,\u201d the practice reported.
