Rowan University Welcomes Inaugural Class<\/h3>\n

Rowan University\u2019s Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine has held a stethoscope ceremony for the 75 students in the inaugural class. Forty students from New Jersey, Rowan\u2019s location, each received a $2,000 scholarship from school namesakes Gerry and Melanie Shreiber. American Veterinary Medical Association President Dr. Michael Bailey addressed the class during the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Apply Now for Dechra and AVMF Scholarships<\/h3>\n

Veterinary drug maker Dechra and the American Veterinary Medical Foundation are offering over $60,000 in scholarships. Twenty veterinary medicine students will receive $2,500 each, and five veterinary technician students will be awarded $2,000 each. Over 1,000 Banfield hospitals now offer the Banfield Access Plan, a lower-cost package of pet care distinct from the company\u2019s signature Optimum Wellness Plans. According to Banfield, pets enrolled in the Access Plan get unlimited office visits, two comprehensive exams per year, an annual heartworm test, a 10% discount on most Banfield products and services, and 24\/7 access to Pet Chat telemedicine services.<\/p>\n

Dog Owners Are Committed to Their Pets<\/h3>\n

A Dog Food Advisor survey of nearly 10,000 U.S. dog owners has revealed that 52% would skip meals to feed their dogs, while 92% say they would go into debt to cover emergency veterinary care. In addition, 96% said they would never give up their dog due to financial strain, \u201cunderscoring just how untouchable the bond between people and pets has become,\u201d according to Dog Food Advisor.<\/p>\n

Oklahoma State Students Score Well on NAVLE<\/h3>\n

The Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine has reported that the Class of 2025 achieved a 97% pass rate on the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination. \u201cOSU\u2019s pass rates have exceeded the national average of 89% every year since 2013,\u201d the university stated. \u201cOSU CVM students demonstrated particular strength in several areas, including production animal medicine, equine medicine, preventive medicine and animal welfare, reproductive medicine, dermatology, and respiratory diseases.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tennessee Participates in Herp Adoption Program<\/h3>\n

The Healthy Trade Institute has launched a nationwide Herp Adoption Program in partnership with the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. \u201cEach animal entering the program receives a veterinary health assessment and is tested for common pathogens such as chytrid, ranavirus, adenovirus and Cryptosporidium<\/em>,\u201d the partners reported. \u201cThis ensures that every animal rehomed through HTI is healthy, providing peace of mind to new owners and promoting a healthier pet trade.\u201d More information is at bit.ly\/4mU7Klv<\/a>.<\/p>\n
