Zoetis Inc. has acquired its third veterinary reference laboratory in less than four months, the latest being Ethos Diagnostic Science, which operates laboratories in Boston, Denver and San Diego. Terms were not disclosed.<\/p>\n

Ethos Diagnostic Science was part of Ethos Veterinary Health, a 21-hospital network stretching from Massachusetts to Southern California. Its three laboratory locations serve Ethos hospitals and outside customers, performing hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, parasitology, endocrinology<\/a>, serology, cytology and histology tests.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to working with their dedicated, trusted, board-certified pathologists and laboratory technicians,\u201d said Lisa Lee, senior vice president and head of global diagnostics for Zoetis. \u201cWith the addition of Ethos\u2019 labs in San Diego, Denver and Boston, we continue to build a more holistic diagnostics portfolio at Zoetis, and together we can provide veterinarians with even more valuable service and accurate insights that inform the care they provide to animals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zoetis entered the reference lab channel in late October 2019 with the purchase of Phoenix Central Laboratory<\/a>, which focuses on clients in the Pacific Northwest, and three weeks later announced the acquisition of ZNLabs<\/a>, which operates a main laboratory in Louisville, Kentucky, and satellite labs in Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, New Orleans, Salt Lake City and Boise, Idaho.<\/p>\n

Zoetis, the world\u2019s largest manufacturer of pet drugs and vaccines, has been growing its diagnostic business since 2018, when the company purchased Abaxis Inc., the maker of VetScan benchtop and handheld diagnostic instruments and consumables.<\/p>\n
