SAGE Centers for Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care, a network of four Bay Area hospitals, is plotting an expansion in partnership with a private equity firm.<\/p>\n

The size of the investment and where additional SAGE hospitals might open were not disclosed.<\/p>\n

Executives with Chicago Pacific Founders Fund L.P. appeared to suggest the expansion will occur outside Northern California.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, we look forward to building the premier independent specialty veterinary practice in the country,\u201d said Larry Leisure, co\u2010founder and managing director of Chicago Pacific Founders. \u201cWe have committed additional resources and capital to accelerate SAGE\u2019s growth strategy, geographic expansion and organic growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fund partner Krista Hatcher predicted that SAGE will \u201cextend its leading market position beyond its current footprint.\u201d<\/p>\n

SAGE<\/a> provides specialty and 24\/7 emergency care in Campbell, Concord, Dublin and Redwood City, California.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a partner in SAGE since 1997, I am so proud of what we have accomplished over the past 26 years and look forward to bringing our unique capabilities and care to more communities,\u201d said chief strategy officer Julie Smith, DVM, DACVS, CCRT, MBA.<\/p>\n

The SAGE doctor roster includes board-certified veterinarians in surgery, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, neurology, anesthesia and radiology.<\/p>\n
