The drug, developed by Japan-based Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd., is the first and only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the management of clinical signs associated with the acute onset of pancreatitis in dogs, according to the companies. The U.S. distribution is expected to begin in the first half of 2023.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>VetEvolve Hospital Roster Reaches 30<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">VetEvolve grew to 30 veterinary practices after the acquisition of its 10th partner location in 2022. The Richmond, Virginia-based network operates in Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, West Virginia and Connecticut and employs more than 600 people. <a href=\"https:\/\/todaysveterinarybusiness.com\/leadership-four-corps-principles\/\">VetEvolve<\/a> is on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing companies for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vetster Releases Telehealth App for Veterinarians<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The telehealth company Vetster launched the Vetster for Veterinarians mobile app for Android and iOS devices. \u201cThe app complements the company\u2019s top-rated web app, giving veterinary professionals another tool to connect with pet parents as part of their virtual practice,\u201d Vetster reported. Among the features of Vetster for Veterinarians are improved appointment management, direct messaging and the VetsterRx prescription service.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Virginia-Maryland Veterinary College Is Expanding<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine plans to renovate the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg, Virginia, and add 42,000 square feet of space. The project\u2019s cost is estimated at $45 million. \u201cThe need exists because of a doubling of students and nearly threefold growth in the number of small animal specialties offered since the current teaching hospital facility was built in 1987,\u201d the college stated. Also coming is a $6 million, 20,000-square-foot indoor arena at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg. The arena should be completed by late 2023.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>AAVMC\u2019s Newest Member Is in England<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine became a full member of the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges. The English school had been a provisional member. \u201cContinuing to add international member institutions represents the true global reach of our organization,\u201d said the AAVMC\u2019s CEO, Andrew T. Maccabe, DVM, MPH, JD.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>NewDay Appoints Chief Veterinary Officer<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lauren Pastewka, DVM, was named the chief veterinary officer of NewDay Veterinary Care, a network of 30 clinics located inside Pet Paradise pet resorts. She previously served as Pet Paradise\u2019s Florida regional veterinary medical director. In other news, Clay Hellner, DVM, was promoted to senior regional veterinary medical director.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Melbourne Teaching Hospital Might Close<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University of Melbourne in Australia announced tentative plans to close its on-campus veterinary teaching hospital because of financial constraints. According to a VIN News Service article posted at <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/3XFbhYF\">bit.ly\/3XFbhYF<\/a>, the move \u201cis opposed by the Australian Veterinary Association, which contends it will
