VVCA Updates Telemedicine Guidelines<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Veterinary Virtual Care Association released model telemedicine regulations based on input from its advisory council and the Veterinary Innovation Council\u2019s Cross-Industry Forums.\u00a0\u201cThe VVCA issues these model telemedicine regulations to provide guidance for practitioners, associations, legislatures and state boards of veterinary medicine,\u201d the organization reported.\u00a0Details are at bit.ly\/3p8rXYA<\/a>.<\/p>\n

AVMA Welcomes a New President<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lori Teller<\/a>, DVM, DABVP (Canine\/Feline), became president of the American Veterinary Medical Association, replacing Jose Arce, DVM, who completed his one-year term at the organization\u2019s Philadelphia convention. Dr. Teller is a clinical associate professor at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.\u00a0The AVMA House of Delegates elected Rena Carlson as the 2023-2024 president. Dr. Carlson, a former Idaho practice owner, now works as a relief veterinarian and a general practice mentor for National Veterinary Associates.<\/p>\n

Telehealth Initiative Has Multiple Partners<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Journey for Teams Supports DEI Efforts<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The American Veterinary Medical Association and Veterinary Medical Association Executives launched Journey for Teams, an initiative designed to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the veterinary profession.\u00a0\u201cThe program builds upon the original Journey program launched in July 2021 by the VMAE that provides executive directors and elected leaders at veterinary medical associations with tools and resources to advance DEI,\u201d the two organizations reported. \u201cThe new Journey for Teams is designed for veterinary professionals and workplaces of all kinds, including private practices, animal hospitals, academia, industry and other settings.\u201d\u00a0AVMA chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer Latonia Craig, Ed.D., will oversee the development and implementation of Journey for Teams.<\/p>\n

Banfield Undergoes a Leadership Change<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Mony Iyer, MBA, MS, was named president of Banfield Pet Hospital, and Jeff Ellison was appointed chief operating officer.
