VetPartners, a nonprofit association of veterinary business specialists, inducted 24 new members at its midyear meeting and presented the 2018 Distinguished Lifetime Member Award.
Meeting in Denver in mid-July, some 140 attendees heard 30-minute presentations from 15 members on “Hot Rocks” topics such as well-being, hiring trends, customer acquisition, loyalty programs and conflict transformation.
“Together, we are aligned around our mission of being and acting for the good of the veterinary profession,” said VetPartners President Jeff Thoren, DVM, PCC, BCC, a Today’s Veterinary Business columnist. “That alignment is, unfortunately, an uncommon experience in many organizations, but, for us, it’s palpable and real.”
Started in 2002, VetPartners now has more than 300 members.
The Distinguished Lifetime Member Award was given to University of Florida veterinary college dean James W. Lloyd, DVM, Ph.D., in recognition of his “noteworthy and outstanding contributions to the practice of veterinary business management consulting and advising or veterinary practice valuations,” the group reported.
A charter member of VetPartners, Dr. Lloyd once led the National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues working group on enhancing the skills, knowledge, aptitude and attitude of veterinarians.
