Credelio Fights New World Screwworm Infestations
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Elanco Animal Health’s Credelio parasiticide for the treatment of New World screwworm infestations in dogs. According to Elanco, “This Emergency Use Authorization allows veterinarians and pet owners to have a ready-now treatment option if the fly enters the U.S.” “In the peer-reviewed study, published in Parasites & Vectors, oral administration of Credelio at the minimum recommended dosage demonstrated 100% efficacy against C. hominivorax larvae (NWS) within 24 hours of treatment in naturally infested dogs.” Credelio (lotilaner) is typically prescribed to kill and prevent fleas and ticks in dogs and cats.
Clemson Sets Student Application Deadline
Clemson University’s Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine is accepting student applications for its inaugural class after receiving a letter of reasonable assurance of accreditation. The first students will enroll in fall 2026. The application deadline is Nov. 17.
Trupanion Partners With Seattle Reign Soccer Team
The Trupanion logo now adorns the front side of Seattle Reign FC jerseys following a multiyear agreement between the pet health insurer and the National Women’s Soccer League team. “We’re proud to partner with Trupanion, a Seattle-based and women-led company that shares our values and vision,” said Seattle Reign’s chief business officer, Maya Mendoza-Exstrom.
Texas Tech Earns Full Accreditation
The American Veterinary Medical Association’s Council on Education has fully accredited Texas Tech University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. The school graduated its first class in May 2025. According to Texas Tech, 97% passed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination.
Pet Food Institute Looks for Next CEO
Pet Food Institute’s president and CEO, Dana Brooks, will leave the organization in April 2026 after leading the organization since 2018. The search for a successor is underway. The Washington, D.C.-based Pet Food Institute represents most U.S. manufacturers of food and treats for dogs and cats.
CareCredit Teams Up With Pumpkin Insurance
Synchrony’s CareCredit subsidiary is partnering with Pumpkin Pet Insurance. “Now, pet owners who have both the CareCredit credit card and Pumpkin Pet Insurance can pay for expenses at the point of care and receive their eligible reimbursement directly to their CareCredit account,” Synchrony reported. According to the company, similar arrangements with other pet insurance providers are expected in the coming months.
Phibro Signs Development Deal With Lighthouse Pharm
Phibro Animal Health Corp. has entered into a licensing agreement involving Lighthouse Pharmaceuticals’ proprietary compound for canine periodontal care. The deal grants Phibro the exclusive rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize the product, which has demonstrated strong preclinical efficacy and safety.
CityVet Schedules Clinic Opening in San Antonio
CityVet, a network of 71 veterinarian-owned practices, is continuing its expansion with the Oct. 27 opening of CityVet Leon Springs in San Antonio, Texas. The practice will be led and owned by Dr. Therese Hall, a Texas A&M University graduate who is Fear Free certified.

Terramed Leases ER Practice to Ethos
Terramed Real Estate Solutions, which specializes in veterinary, ophthalmology and fertility properties, has acquired Summit Veterinary Referral Center in Tacoma, Washington, in a $12.6 million transaction structured partially through a 721 UPREIT exchange. According to Terramed, the 27,199-square-foot specialty and emergency hospital “adds a high-performing property to Terramed’s REIT portfolio under long-term lease to Ethos Veterinary Health.”
New From Nutramax: Filaquin Anal Gland Supplement
Nutramax Laboratories Veterinary Sciences has launched Filaquin, an anal gland supplement for dogs. According to Nutramax, Filaquin contains NMXFBR4, a proprietary blend that includes soluble and insoluble fiber to support normal stool consistency, as well as prebiotics and postbiotics to support anal gland health.
Harold Davis Is Bridge Club ICON Award Winner
The Bridge Club, a veterinary industry networking group, has named Harold Davis the winner of the 2026 Bridge Club ICON Award. Davis, a former president of the North American Veterinary Community, most recently managed the Emergency and Critical Care Service at the UC Davis William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. He was the first non-veterinarian elected president of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.
