Coming to Texas A&M: A New Hospital and Dean
The Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences has broken ground on the Linda & Dennis Clark ’68 Small Animal Teaching Hospital. Clark Hospital is scheduled to open in August 2027, filling 135,000 square feet and doubling the number of surgical suites and exam rooms available at the current facility. Meanwhile, Dr. Bonnie R. Rush will take over as the college’s dean on Aug. 1. She is currently the Hodes Family Dean at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Lyon College Prepares Site for Veterinary School
Lyon College has started construction of the School of Veterinary Medicine in Cabot, Arkansas. The 14-acre site will feature more than 100,000 square feet of educational and clinical space and include the Katharine Reese Shelter Medicine and Animal Welfare Program. The inaugural class is expected to enroll in 2026, pending the school’s accreditation.
Canobie Lake Is AAHA’s Hospital of the Year
Canobie Lake Veterinary Hospital in Sante Fe, New Mexico, has been named Hospital of the Year by the American Animal Hospital Association. According to AAHA, “A key factor in this achievement is the hospital’s strategic partnership with and utilization of PrizedPals’ CareCorrals, an online caring community platform that enables pet families and loved ones to stay more empathetically and durably connected and supported throughout a pet’s healing or aging journey.”
VHMA Selects Practice Manager of the Year
The Veterinary Hospital Managers Association has named Lynsey Mohr its 2025 Practice Manager of the Year. Mohr, a certified veterinary practice manager, works at Rehoboth Beach Animal Hospital in Delaware. The VHMA credited her with creating “a five-day-a-week urgent care service that made her hospital the only provider within nearly an hour.”
Elanco’s Zenrelia Gets European Approval
Zenrelia, a treatment for pruritus and atopic dermatitis in dogs, has received a positive opinion from the European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products. The Elanco Animal Health product is expected to be available in the European Union within 60 days.
Vetscan Imagyst Checks for Masses and Lesions
Zoetis Inc.’s AI Masses is now available on Vetscan Imagyst analyzers throughout North America. AI Masses uses artificial intelligence to identify and classify common skin and subcutaneous masses and lymph node lesions.
Idexx Plans Catalyst Cortisol Test
Idexx Laboratories Inc. is preparing to launch the Catalyst Cortisol Test, which measures real-time quantitative cortisol concentrations to support the diagnosis of Addison’s disease and the diagnosis and management of Cushing’s syndrome in dogs. The test integrates with Vetlab Station and VetConnect PLUS and will be available in the United States and Canada at the end of July.
FelineVMA Schedules Portland Conference
The Feline Veterinary Medical Association will hold its 2025 Annual Conference on Sept. 18 to 21 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. Among the offerings will be continuing education and the Feline Veterinarian Bootcamp for New Graduates. Details are at bit.ly/3HZjwLB.
Terravet Attracts $35 Million Investment
Terravet REIT, managed by Terravet Real Estate Solutions, has secured a $35 million preferred equity investment from Sculptor Diversified REIT, an affiliate of Sculptor Capital Management. “We’re seeing increased interest from sellers of purpose-built veterinary real estate in major markets across the country,” said Daniel Eisenstadt, Terravet’s CEO. Across its funds and REIT entities, Terravet owns more than 150 properties and more than 1.5 million square feet of real estate in more than 35 states.
Pieper Veterinary Becomes COVE Animal Health
Pieper Veterinary, a Connecticut-based hospital network, has rebranded as COVE Animal Health. “COVE, which stands for Community of Veterinary Entrepreneurs, brings together primary care, emergency and specialty teams to create regional hospital systems,” said CEO Tessa Olson.
Farmer’s Dog Sponsors Tennessee Residency Program
Pet food maker The Farmer’s Dog is sponsoring a veterinary nutrition residency at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Vetigel Gets a Canadian Distributor
Cresilon Inc.’s Vetigel, a plant-based hemostatic gel, is available to Canadian veterinarians through distributor McCarthy Vet. According to Cresilon, Vetigel has been used in over 60,000 surgical procedures worldwide since its 2021 release.
