VHMA Publishes Pay and Benefits Study
The Veterinary Hospital Managers Association released the “2023 Compensation and Benefits Survey Report,” an in-depth look at what associate veterinarians, practice managers and staff members receive. The survey found that full-time associates earned a median annual compensation of $125,000, up 4% from 2021, and worked a median of 1,693 hours annually, down 7%. Zoetis’ Revolution Plus Fights Lone Star Ticks
Veterinarians may now prescribe Revolution Plus (selamectin and sarolaner topical solution) to treat and control infestations caused by the lone star tick (Amblyomma Americanum). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the extended label claim. Zoetis Inc.’s monthly topical preventive is also indicated to protect against fleas, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, heartworm disease and three other tick species.
VPP Raises $40,000 in Emergency Aid
Veterinary Practice Partners, a network of co-owned hospitals in 27 states, raised more than $40,000 toward emergency financial assistance for company employees and their families. VPP reported that the annual Homecoming event received “support from 89 individual donors, plus Zoetis.”

Digitail invites veterinary professionals to weigh in on their perceptions and concerns regarding artificial intelligence. The company, the maker of an all-in-one practice management system, launched a survey at bit.ly/41R0P2F. “As AI is beginning to make its strides in animal health care, it is essential to collect feedback from veterinary professionals at this early stage,” Digitail CEO Sebastian Gabor said. “The actionable takeaways from this study will help steer the innovation in the direction that aligns with the needs and expectations of the industry.”
Invoxia Hires New CEO
Clément Moreau was named CEO of Invoxia, the Paris-based developer of the Smart Dog Collar and the Minitailz Smart Pet Tracker. Moreau, the co-founder of the 3D printing company Sculpteo, succeeds Amélie Caudron.
PetVivo Celebrates Spryng Sales
Calling the achievement “a significant milestone,” biomedical device maker PetVivo Holdings Inc. distributed more than 4,500 syringes of Spryng with OsteoCushion technology in 2023. The injectable product contains sterilized extracellular matrix microparticles and is indicated for the management of noninfectious sources of joint pain. PetVivo also reported an agreement with Covetrus North America to distribute Spryng.
Airvet Acts Quickly on New California Law
According to Airvet, the company became “the first veterinary telehealth company to make a fully VCPR-compliant remote diagnosis and written prescription in the state of California.” A new state law allows the creation of a veterinarian-client-patient relationship through a virtual connection. Previously, Airvet reported, “Veterinarians in California could conduct telehealth visits and evaluate a pet and recommend care but were unable to prescribe medications.”
Former Ethos Executive Joins MedVet
MedVet, a specialty and emergency veterinary hospital network, appointed Dr. Lauren Boyd as chief medical officer. Dr. Boyd, who replaced Dr. Michael Podell, previously worked in leadership positions at Ethos Veterinary Health and BluePearl.
