WSAVA Identifies Essential Medicines for Cats and Dogs
The World Small Animal Veterinary Association launched the second edition of the “Essential Medicines List for Cats and Dogs.” “Recently published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice, the document supports companion animal veterinarians in many regions of the world to access vital veterinary medicines by supporting the availability of drugs required for minimum standards of clinical practice,” WSAVA reported. Veterinary Innovative Partners Names New CEO
Chris Bishop replaced John Kuzmishin as CEO of the 37-hospital Veterinary Innovative Partners network. Bishop most recently was the CEO of human medicine’s Regent Surgical Health. Kuzmishin will stay on as a senior adviser at Nashville-based VIP and continue to serve on the board of directors.

Pumpkin Pet Insurance, founded in 2020 by Zoetis Inc., became the ninth insurer featured on Pawlicy Advisor, an online quote generator and policy comparison tool.
Tammy Wynn Is a Clinic Champion

Dr. Lori Teller will chair PetMed Express’s newly formed Veterinarian Advisory Board. Dr. Teller is the immediate past president of the American Veterinary Medical Association and a clinical associate professor of telehealth at Texas A&M University.
NewDay Appoints Chief Veterinary Officer
Dr. Clay Hellner was named the chief veterinary officer at NewDay Veterinary Care, part of the Pet Paradise network of boarding, day care, grooming and dog training services. The former practice owner had been NewDay’s senior regional veterinary medical director.
Wisconsin Looks for Veterinary School Dean
The University of Wisconsin appointed a search committee to help identify and select candidates for the next dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine. The committee chair is Dr. Kristen Bernard, a professor of pathobiological sciences. The current dean, Dr. Mark D. Markel, intends to step down in summer 2024.
Small Door Opens Third D.C. Clinic
Small Door Veterinary enlarged its Washington, D.C., footprint with the opening of a members-only clinic in the Spring Valley neighborhood. “The opening marks the 10th location across three markets that Small Door has entered, with five New York City locations and two Boston practices that opened earlier this year,” the company stated. Dr. Kristen Fischer is Spring Valley’s managing veterinarian and Dr. Jake London is the senior veterinarian.
Hallmarq Gets New Chicago Home
Hallmarq Veterinary Imaging, which makes a standing equine MRI and CT scanner and a small animal MRI machine, opened a 6,300-square-foot factory in Chicago. The new plant is 2 miles from the previous facility and allows Hallmarq to stock its “systems and modular options under the same roof,” according to the company.
