UC Davis Plans Donor-Funded Expansion
The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is launching a 10-year capital project that includes a new veterinary education pavilion, primary care hospital, equine hospital, veterinary cancer center, spay-neuter clinic and raptor center. The work follows philanthropic gifts of $110.5 million. Donors also funded the newly opened All Species Imaging Center, adjacent to the William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. The school also plans to increase veterinary student enrollment from 600 to 800.
Credelio Quattro Is a Financial Success
Elanco Animal Health’s Credelio Quattro parasiticide, with $100 million in net sales in less than eight months, has become what the company called its “fastest pet health blockbuster in history.” According to Executive Vice President Bobby Modi, “Credelio Quattro captured approximately 14% of the dollar share in broad-spectrum sales out of U.S. veterinary clinics in June.” Elanco is seeking regulatory approval to sell the product in Australia, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Japan.
NVA Turns to Xerox for New CEO
John G. Bruno has been appointed CEO of National Veterinary Associates, a North American network of 1,300 veterinary hospitals, equine hospitals and pet resorts. He succeeds Larry Allgaier, who will serve as an adviser during the transition. Bruno most recently was president and chief operating officer at Xerox.

Veterinary clinics are invited to join the Diabetes PetCare Alliance, a collaboration between Merck Animal Health, Purina and Zoetis. Participating veterinarians may receive free downloadable client education materials and starter diabetes management kits. PBI-Gordon Promotes COO to CEO
Dr. Jacqueline Applegate will take over as president and CEO of PBI-Gordon Companies on Nov. 1, replacing Steve Clifford. PBI-Gordon’s subsidiaries include Pegasus Laboratories, TriviumVet and Pet-Ag. Dr. Applegate currently serves as chief operating officer and previously spent 32 years at Bayer. In other news, Pegasus Laboratories opened an expanded, 172,000-square-foot veterinary drug factory in Pensacola, Florida.
New VCA Hospital Is LEED Gold Certified
VCA Animal Hospitals has opened VCA Dallas Animal Specialty Hospital, a nearly 23,000-square-foot facility that replaces the former Animal Diagnostic Clinic across the street. According to the company, “The hospital also marks VCA Animal Hospital’s and Mars Veterinary Health’s first LEED Gold certified hospital in the United States.” A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Nov. 2, and 24-hour emergency care is expected to start in 2026.
California County Gets 24-Hour Practice
San Luis Obispo County, California, has its first 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital with the opening of Cerro Alto. The practice was founded by board-certified veterinary surgeon Dr. Joseph Raleigh and emergency veterinarian Dr. Ethan McEnroe.
Investors Pour $46 Million Into Modern Animal
The Modern Animal hospital chain is projecting $100 million in annual revenue and reported $46 million in additional funding, led by Addition, True Ventures and Upfront Ventures. According to the company, “The new funding comes on the heels of a period of significant growth for Modern Animal, including 85% year‑over‑year revenue growth in 2024.” Modern Animal operates 27 clinics in California, Texas and Colorado.
ZyVet Offers New Generic Products
New Jersey-based ZyVet Animal Health has released the first FDA-approved generic of phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride tablets, a treatment for managing urinary incontinence in dogs. The company also launched the first approved generic of Furosemide Tablets for the management of congestive heart failure and chronic fluid retention in dogs and cats.
Felixvet Unveils Feline Hyperthyroidism Drug
Felixvet has received FDA approval of generic Methimazole Coated Tablets, an antithyroid drug indicated for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats. The company established its North American headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2023.
