Nationwide and national retailer Petco have teamed up on a customizable pet health insurance offering.
“This latest expansion of our partnership with Petco delivers integrated and affordable pet health and protection that will enable more pet parents to say ‘yes’ to the vet,” said Mariel Devesa, Nationwide’s head of growth, expansion and development.
Insurance plans are available for dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, birds and reptiles. Accident-only plans start at $16 a month for dogs and $9 for cats.
Customization options include:
- Reimbursement of 50% to 90% of eligible veterinary expenses.
- Coverage of unexpected veterinary expenses resulting from illnesses or diseases.
- Wellness coverage with a $450 or $800 maximum annual benefit.
- $100 to $500 yearly deductibles.
- Coverage from $500 to unlimited.
Policyholders receive exclusive discounts and savings on Petco veterinary services through more than 280 Vetco Total Care hospitals and mobile Vetco vaccination clinics.
The two companies began collaborating in October 2022 in what Nationwide President Heidi Sirota then called a “game-changing move.”
“These new offerings are expected to focus on end-to-end pet care fulfilled through Petco’s pharmacy, veterinary hospitals or clinics, and other health and wellness offerings, including Petco’s revolutionary Vital Care program,” Nationwide reported at the time.
