Elanco Animal Health has launched “Defend Puppies. Defeat Parvo,” a campaign designed to improve client awareness of the deadly disease and its treatment. The program also provides up to $1 million in rebate incentives to veterinarians who purchase the company’s Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody.
“Parvo doesn’t have to be a death sentence,” said Dr. Jennifer Miller, a technical veterinarian at Elanco. “Our innovative treatment for parvovirus can help veterinarians and pet owners alleviate the emotional toll associated with parvo.”
The campaign asks dog owners, veterinarians and pet lovers to take this pledge: “I pledge to forever keep puppies safe. I pledge to lead by example, spreading the word about parvo, its symptoms and treatment. I pledge because I know together we can save 1 million puppies from parvo by 2030.”
Another initiative, the Parvo Defenders Task Force, strives to raise awareness about parvo and treatment options. The task force members include:
- Idexx Laboratories.
- Mars Veterinary Health.
- Austin Pets Alive, a Texas no-kill organization that has saved more than 120,000 dogs.
- Fear Free.
- The Fix Project, a nonprofit clinic specializing in parvovirus and one of the first clinics to administer the monoclonal antibody parvo treatment.
- PAWS Chicago, an organization committed to ending the killing of homeless cats and dogs.
