Instinct Wins PIMS Contract at Schwarzman AMC
New York City’s Schwarzman Animal Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center and the world’s largest veterinary teaching hospital, has implemented Instinct as its veterinary practice management software. According to the PIMS provider, “Instinct EMR now powers AMC’s patient record system, workflow platform, digital treatment and anesthesia sheets, integrated decision support and safety features, appointment scheduling, prescribing and pharmacy management, estimates, billing, payments, and a new external referring veterinarian portal.”
Jaguar Seeks Diarrhea Drug Partner
Jaguar Health is looking for a partner to fund and execute the development and commercialization of NP300, the company’s prescription drug candidate for the treatment of general, non-infectious diarrhea in dogs. According to the San Francisco company, no FDA-approved drugs exist to treat canine diarrhea. Jaguar Health offers Canalevia-CA1 (crofelemer delayed-release tablets) for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced diarrhea in dogs.
Houston LVT Is Clinic Champion of the Year
Today’s Veterinary Nurse, published by the North American Veterinary Community, has recognized licensed veterinary technician Kathryn Mongrain as its 2024 Clinic Champion of the Year. Mongrain founded The Bottle Brigade, a nonprofit group that provides veterinary care to neonatal puppies and kittens with medical issues. She also works at a 24/7 emergency and critical care practice in Houston.
CityVet Schedules Opening of Its Newest Clinic
CityVet’s 51st veterinarian-owned practice is set to open Dec. 9 in Aurora, Colorado. Urgent care will be available until 10 p.m. on Fridays and 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The managing veterinarian is Dr. Jennifer Reilly, a 2021 graduate of the University of Illinois.
VHMA Welcomes Veteos as Gold Sponsor
Veteos, a video production company specializing in creating video content for veterinary practices, has become a Gold Supporting Sponsor of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association. Veteos co-founder Ben Spinks is a certified veterinary practice manager, a title earned through a VHMA program.

IndeVets Offers Rotations for GPs
The veterinarian staffing company IndeVets has introduced the General Practitioner Rotating Mentorship Program. Over six months, mentees work at a variety of hospitals, exposing them to different clinical settings. “Specialty shifts, like surgery, dentistry and ultrasound, are incorporated based on the mentee’s interests,” IndeVets stated.
FoodScience Gets a New Owner
FoodScience, the maker of VetriScience and Pet Naturals nutritional supplements, has been sold to investment funds managed by Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. Terms were not disclosed. The seller is Wind Point Partners. Sharon Rossi will continue as FoodScience’s CEO.
AAVMC Adds a Provisional Member
The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges has selected Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois, as a provisional member. Midwestern operates a veterinary school in Glendale, Arizona, and wants to open a second one in Downers Grove, possibly in fall 2027 if accreditation is approved.
Lyon College Identifies Vet School Location
Lyon College has approved a lease agreement to house its proposed School of Veterinary Medicine in Cabot, Arkansas. Groundbreaking is planned for early 2025. The veterinary school has received a Letter of Reasonable Assurance of accreditation from the AVMA Council on Education.
Clemson Takes Next Step With Groundbreaking
Clemson University held a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 22 for its proposed College of Veterinary Medicine. The South Carolina institution expects to welcome its inaugural class of 80 students in fall 2026 if accreditation is approved.
