Today’s Veterinary Business Staff

Hospital consolidator Southern Veterinary Partners will end 2018 with 70 practices across 10 states following the acquisition of Dodd Animal Hospital in San Antonio.
The Birmingham, Alabama, chain’s rapid expansion from 39 hospitals just 12 months ago can be tied to the equity firm Shore Capital Partners, which first invested in Southern Veterinary Partners in 2014.
Dodd Animal Hospital is Southern Veterinary Partners’ 10th Texas clinic. The three-doctor practice is managed by longtime owner Donald Vestal, DVM, and veterinarians Jonathan Dyes, DVM, and Tim Kretzschmar, DVM.
“Their team no longer has the burden of back-office operations and instead are able to direct their entire focus to their clients and patients,” said Southern Veterinary Partners’ CEO, Jay Price, DVM. “SVP has seen major growth in the Texas market in 2018, and we look forward to welcoming even more hospitals in Texas and across the South in 2019.”
Southern Veterinary Partners in 2018 placed No. 235 on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing U.S. companies.
