Fidu and Hill’s Offer Free Nutrition Teleconsults
For a limited time, practitioners can receive free advice from veterinary nutrition specialists under a partnership between Hill’s Pet Nutrition and the teleconsulting company Fidu.
Primary and specialty practice veterinarians who visit FiduVet.com can schedule a video or telephone consultation or request a written report. They first must upload a patient’s relevant medical records and diet history along with their nutrition questions, Hill’s and Fidu reported.
The consultations include supporting documents, client education materials and possible dietary recommendations.
“Individualized diet recommendations support an integral component of all veterinarians’ goals to extend and enrich the profound relationships between people and their pet family members,” said Stewart Morgan, DVM, Ph.D., DACVIM (Nutrition), a Hill’s veterinary nutritionist and Fidu consultant.
Fidu’s founders are veterinarians Sue Ettinger, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology), and Caitlin DeWilde, DVM, and digital strategist Eric D. Garcia.
FDA Approves Virbac Food Animal Drug
Virbac has earned regulatory approval of its first U.S. food animal pharmaceutical: Tulissin (tulathromycin injectable) Injectable Solution for the treatment of respiratory disease and other conditions in cattle and swine.
Virbac will market the cattle products directly and work with another company, Pharmgate Animal Health, to sell the swine formulation.
“We see the market authorization of Tulissin as a major accomplishment and are excited about our introduction into the food-producing animal market for the U.S.,” said Francois Fournier, president and CEO of Virbac North America. “I am convinced that Pharmgate, with its broad portfolio of products and strong field team, key relationships and expertise, is a perfect fit for Virbac to successfully enter the swine segment.”
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Tulissin 100 Injectable Solution also is indicated for the treatment of infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis and bovine foot rot.

PetWellClinic Expands Into Arizona
A 25-year-old entrepreneur has agreed to open 16 walk-in veterinary practices in Phoenix under an agreement with Tennessee-based franchisor PetWellClinic.
The deal is between Cole Walling and his family, whom PetWellClinic reported have been Re-Bath franchisees for over 12 years.
PetWellClinic, which is working to open more than 100 locations nationwide, focuses on preventive care, checkups, and the treatment of minor ailments and chronic conditions.
The first Phoenix-area clinics — and the first in Arizona — are expected to open by April 2022.
“Our clinics provide top-notch preventative care to family pets, but we also pride ourselves on the work-life balance we offer our veterinarians,” said Sam Meisler, DVM, the founder and CEO of PetWellClinic. “With set working hours and streamlined services, vets can focus more on their patients and have time for themselves at the end of the day.”
Valley Vet Supply Finds a Major Investor
Main Street Capital Corp. has invested $42.2 million to support the growth of online retailer Valley Vet Supply. Headquartered in Marysville, Kansas, Valley Vet Supply sells equine, livestock and pet products and operates an in-house pharmacy licensed in all 50 states.
